Green Helmets and Amazon Web Services plant in Madrid

On Thursday 21 November, Cascos Verdes (Green Helmets) and employees from Amazon and Amazon Web Services gathered in Las Rozas, Madrid, to plant 150 trees and shrubs to restore the Dehesa de Navalcarbón.

The planting took place alongside a local school, Colegio Zola, where employees and students learned not only about planting but also about local species and the importance of caring for the environment.

The Green Helmets initiative aims to reforest and carry out work to improve the forest environment after the 2021 fires in Andalusia, south of Spain. Now, they are also expanding their reforestation efforts across the country.

We enjoyed the enthusiasm and energy of the Amazon employees, who, divided into groups, did amazing work hand in hand with the students.

At the end of the activity, and because we still had some time left, participants also learned about an insect hotel that is placed next to the planting site, that will help to attract pollinators and foster a healthier ecosystem around it.

We hope this will be the first of many collaborations!
